And you need to back up data so if that drive fails then you still have it. You need to keep a encrypted file which has your passwords including the WD one. There is no backdoor, quick fix or workaround.
The password is there for a reason - it's so that if someone steals the device they cannot get access to the content. And again, "System Only Restore" is what you'd want. This process should not be data destructive and won't harm any data on the device. Would recommend looking up on how to do a "system only restore" on your specific device if there are no other password recovery options available to you.
